The Pines Project
For every body
The Dalton Open Space and Recreation Plan seeks to enhance the access and use of “The Pines” property through an improved walking and hiking trail network. The Pines is a unique forested ~40-acre in-town property located adjacent to the intersection of High and Pleasant Streets.
Enhancements include an approximate ½ mile ADA compliant trail accessible from High Street and adjacent to Dalton’s senior center. Existing and new trails will be built or maintained with appropriate drainage and signage to encourage exploration of the properties features which include; hardwood and softwood forests, the ledges, wetlands and many view-points to see the forest’s many creatures.

Silhouette Mindset — Winter Tree Week
"No one can walk in a road cut through pine woods without being struck by the architectural appearance of the grove, especially in winter when the bareness of the trees shows the low arch of the Saxons. In the woods on a winter's afternoon one will see as readily the...
Go For A Sky Swim — Winter Tree Week

12 Winter Hikes for Families
Winter is a wonderful time of year to hike. Blankets of snow and the crisp, cold air bring a fresh perspective to many of our favorite, familiar places. Views are clearer and unobstructed, bugs are a non-issue, and animal tracks turn us all into snow detectives. Check out some of our favorite spots for Winter family hiking. Pile on the layers and get out there already! Be sure to have the cocoa ready for your return…
